The 5 Pillars To Organizing Your Content

Learning how to organize your content can make or break your success in your network marketing.  There are many reasons why we become disorganized. Maybe we are just always working on the go and are busy. Maybe your brain works too fast and you create more than you know what to do with. Either way being disorganized with your content can really cause you problems down the road.

So how do I know this? Because I have been there. I know what a mess things can get and that is why I created these 5 Pillars to Organizing Your Content.

Like most of you my content was a friggin mess. Then I wondered why I was struggling, things were taking to long, and I just didn’t feel productive. I had to come up with a system that worked for me.  I dove into trainings, coaches, and some of the best tips for those in the industry, but what I found is most of it was not practical for the average, including me.  So I had to figure it out or I was going to continue to spiral down this road to mayhem

So how do we do this what creating more Mayhem?
We follow the 5 Pillars to Keep your content organized.
So let’s dive into this!!

1. Organizing by topics

It doesn’t matter where you have your content stored, if it is not sorted by topic and purpose you are are going to get confused and you are going to reinventing the wheel everytime you go to create content. Here we like to keep things simplified, so there is not sense in creating the same piece of content over and over again.

The best way that I have been able to keep this organized is by topics and purpose.  So for example, Organization. I then further organize that topic into purposes.  For example, quotes, memes, video’s, etc.  By doing this I have my topic organized and ready to repurpose.

2. Utilize A CMS To Schedule Out Your Content

Using a content management system not only keeps your consistent with putting out your digital content, but it also keeps your organized.

Have you ever posted the same image or quote twice in a short amount of time? I would bet you have. It is an honest mistake, that many of have had to do. Using a CMS prevents this.

It also helps you with keeping on task of what and when to share your content. Having this aspect of your digital marketing organized can save you time, frustration, and yes even money!!

Using a CMS can also help you keep your analytics and numbers organized. I won’t go into to much detail in this right now, but to me it is a lot easy than having spread sheet after spread sheet!!

3. Storing all that great content

If you are like most people you are taking a ton of photos, downloading every meme and quote, and when you see great content that you can duplicate or use you save it. Listen I get it, but for most of us we end up with drives that are full and phones that are out of memory. Right?

There are a few things you can do.

1. you can pay to have more storage added to your cloud storage. Most of us really don’t want to do that. I mean we already pay so much as it is for all our mobile devices, right.

2. You can utilize thumb drives, and external drives.  This is the method I prefer. As a photographer I have thousands and thousands of photos. External hard drives are now so portable you can take them with, and they have been a game changer for storing my content for my businesses.

3. Running your business just on mobile has many challenges, but this is not one of them we have any more. There are so many options for external hard drives for mobile devices.

4. Set your priorities

This goes back to number 2. You have to get a handle on what is priority and what is not. If something is not being scheduled out or a priority for an upcoming project then it needs to be filed away on that external we talked about in #3.
when you have to much to sort through and see it can be overwhelming, stressful, and be a distraction. Keep only your priority items within a quick reach, and file away the rest till another time!!

5. The Circular File

For many myself included this is the hardest of them all. The Circular File, or AKA The Trash!!  If you delete it you might need it. Even if it is 4 years old, right? I get it! The fear of deleting content is scary but it is also the most satisfying. It like this peaceful zen moment where everything begins to feel nice and tidy!!
Here is the thing though. Don’t just go on a deleting spree!! Delete what is really old, over used, and does not pertain to your current goals.  This is where organization comes into play. If every year your start new folders for your content then you know all the others are at least a year old. It really makes it easier to weed out old ones that are no longer serving you a purpose.
